Superbooth Berlin 2018 was a blast. For one, the weather was great. Plenty of beer and food, good folks, nice performances, and numerous booths with plenty of nerdy modular stuff made this gathering a true synth heaven. What’s not to like?
The Ginko Modular Fest 2017 was an absolute blast. The Hague was the place to be for modular synth freaks this weekend in De Besturing. Lots of freaky noise, shiny gear, friendly people, good food, and even better beer.
There’s nothing like a bunch of like-minded people in the same space enjoying each others company. Here’s a rough cut video compilation from my camera’s point of view. See you all next year.
It’s been a busy few months. Busy, in my mind, means that everything you do has a purpose and a preferred outcome. One of the reasons I love jamming on the modular is the lack of purpose and the unexpected twists and turns that arise. Nothing patched and nothing planned. Playing with bits and pieces. Some already there in some modules memory, some spontaneously created from scratch. A freeform road to nowhere.
I’m the proud owner of a Revox B77 MkII reel-to-reel tape recorder. This is the first piece I recorded on this magical machine.
The UnlikeNoise Podcast is an unrestricted exploration within the realm of ambient sound art. All soundscapes, field recordings, music, particles, and grains are created, developed, recorded and composed by Leon van Bokhorst.
Multi-cam Noodling on a drowsy afternoon 😏
I’ve been trying to find a solution for a multi-cam setup to stream live. The ideal would be one or two cams focussing on the Modular and one oversight shot. For now, I can only do this by recording a modular live session, edit the footage with the audio stream in Premiere Pro as a multi-cam session. Then streaming the exported result. Not convenient at all. HDMI switch boxes are way too expensive for me.
Anyway, here’s the first result 😎
